A Study on Switching of a Redundant Network Using IP Video Distribution System with PON Employing Dedicated Wavelength

(in English) Recently, the spread of distribution services of ultra high-definition (UHD) video, such as 4K/8K, has been expected, and in order to economically realize it, distribution with PON (Passive Optical Network) is promising in access networks. We have proposed a service concept of multi-provider’s multichannel IP video distribution services with a downlink unidirectional system, as an exemplary use-case of the dedicated-wavelength-based video broadcasting, which is one of the video distribution methods employed in PON-based access network. Also, we have prototyped OLT and ONU equipment and evaluated of proposed method. In this paper, we focus on the case that the video distribution network is redundant, and we describe the study on the switching function with the IP video distribution system employing the dedicated-wavelength-based video broadcasting.
