As a wired rebroadcasting service, RF transmission system with HFC or FTTH has been widely used to transmit broadcasting signals via Digital Terrestrial Television, Broadcasting Satellite and Communication Satellite. However, the RF transmission system has some problems such as increase of CAPEX/OPEX, since the system needs a dedicated network constructed only for the analog transmission. Therefore, we have been proposed a novel digital video transmission system using DRoF (Digitized Radio over Fiber) technology, which realizes the digital transmission of the RF-based broadcasting signals with retaining the existing input/output interface of the RF signal to/from the transmission network. This system also enables RF-based broadcasting signals to overlay on the exiting digital communication system by sharing the network equipment.
In this paper, we investigated the relationship between required quantization number and the input CNR to Tx in the proposed system when transmitting 10 channels multiplexed Digital Terrestrial Television signals. Furthermore, in order to reduce the transmission rate, the quantization bits reduction methods were applied, and these effects were verified by simulation. |
