Study on Signature Codes and Multi-User Interference Cancellation Techniques for CDMA Radio Communication Systems

(in English) The class of modified prime sequence codes (MPSCs) was proposed for unipolar signature codes of synchronous optical CDMA (SO-CDMA) systems. Several excellent interference cancellation techniques using MPSCs, such as Shalaby's scheme, Liu's scheme and the EWO-MPSC scheme, have been proposed to cancel multiple user interference (MUI) in SO-CDMA. The authors reported that Shalaby's scheme can also be applied in synchronous CDMA radio communication systems to remove MUI errors. This scheme uses BMPSC, which are the bipolar version of MPSC, as a signature code. In this paper, we propose a new class of signature codes instead of BMPSCs for Shalaby's scheme in synchronous CDMA radio communication systems. We generate the new code based on the modified prime sequence (MPS) combined with the Walsh-Hadamard (WH) code, and we refer to it as MPS-WH code. The decision distance, which is a parameter to estimate error resistance property of MUI cancellers, of the MPS-WH codes is larger than that of the BMPSCs. We evaluate bit error rate performance of synchronous CDMA with the MUI canceller using the MPS-WH codes and compared with those of the systems with the WH codes and the BMPSCs.
