A study of power combine type base-station transmitter to improve performance degradation at unit SSPA failure

(in English) Base stations for between remote island satellite communication systems and disaster recovery satellite communication systems are generally required large aperture antenna and high transmission power to have a large number of line. In particular, the uses of TWTA were common to satisfy a high power transmission. SSPA’s output power improvement in the recent years and the easily its operation, requests of replacement from TWTA to SSPA are growing. As a replacement study to SSPA from TWTA, the issue of insufficient SSPA output power is solved to combine some SSPAs output. This paper presents combine type high-power transmitter configuration and control procedure to improve performance degradation at unit SSPA failure. Experimental verification results of the proposed configurations are also described.
