Watermarking Scheme with Large Capacity Considering the Internal Structure of PDF File

(in English) PDF files are popular format of digital documents that can be displayed on digital devices such as PC, tablet, and smart phone. Because of its popularity, the illegal use of PDF files may cause serious trouble. Therefore, the watermarking technique for preventing illegal use is necessary. In this paper, we propose a high capacity watermarking scheme which changes the spaces among words and letters in PDF files. We regard the sequence of the spaces as a host vector, and modies the vector based on a signal processing technology. To control the space changes produced by the embedding, the watermark is inserted into the frequency components converted from the vector by DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). Before the DCT, the elements in the host vector is randomly permuted according to a secret key. Such an operation makes the removal and modification of watermark difficult without the secret key. Through computer simulation, the changes of PDF file size and the degradation of the visual appearance are numerically evaluated.
