Range and Angle Resolution Enhancement for MIMO Radar by Using Khatri-Rao Product Virtual Array Processing

(in English) Recently, indoor location estimation of persons has been attracting attentions for man-location monitoring and home security.Obviously high-resolution property is important for indoor location estimation radars.Large aperture array must be employed to realize high angular resolution. However, it is often difficult because of the cost. To overcome this difficulty, one of the good ways is to use a virtual array technique to increase the effective array aperture.Therefore, we consider the indoor location estimation using a MIMO radar with Khatri-Rao product virtual array processing. We show in this report that the Kharti-Rao product virtual array processing can increase not only effective aperture of the array to improve angular resolution but also effective bandwidth to improve range resolution for the FM-CW based MIMO radars. Validity of this processing is also demonstrated by some experimental results.
