Co-Activity Detection from Multiple Videos Using Foreground Motion and Background Appearance

(in English) Today, there are a lot of videos annotated with text tags on the Internet. Although these tags coarsely represent the corresponding video content, some scenes in the video are not related to the tags. From this background, methods for detecting the scenes in tagged videos that are truly related to the given tag have been studied recently. In this paper, we also tackle this problem, especially focusing on tags of human activities. This task is so called ``co-activity detection''. Because some human activities are performed only in limited places, features of background appearance as well as foreground motion would be effective for co-activity detection. Hence, in this paper, we propose a method of co-activity detection that uses foreground motion and background appearance in an integrated manner. Our experimental results on a dataset captured in a realistic setting indicate that background appearance are helpful for improving the accuracy of co-activity detection.
