Monitoring of Infrastructure by GB-SAR

(in English) In this report we demonstrate examples Ground Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GB-SAR) to practical applications, which include landslide monitoring and infrastructure monitoring. A GB-SAR system which operate at 17GHz can measure the deformation of the ground surface at the precision of 0.2mmm and can acquire the data in 400m x 400 m area at once. The research group at Tohoku University has deployed a GB-SAR system at Kurihara, Miyagi Japan for land slide monitoring for more than 6 years and demonstrated the implementation to early warning system to local inhabitants. We started the measurement of landslide at Minami-Aso in January 2017. We are also deploying the GB-SAR for pavement surface monitoring in air ports. The radar unit of GB-SAR system can be used as a real aperture radar, and can acquire at high PRF, and we can use it for vibration monitoring of infrastructure. We successfully used it for bridge vibration monitoring.
