Performance of Error Correcting Codes for RGB-LED Parallel Transmission

(in English) The LED for visible light communications has only 3 base colors: red, green and blue(RGB). Since the channel has a different transmittance depending on the LED-color, the channel model becomes a partial erasure channel which loses a part of colors in the RGB-LED parallel transmission. In this paper, two RGB-LED parallel transmission systems using turbo code or low density parity check (LDPC) code are considered.
The bit error rate (BER) performance of two systems in partial erasure channel are evaluated by computer simulation. As results, the turbo code system with rearrangement scheme is superior to the conventional turbo code system when losing the color stream which transmits the parity bits. In both turbo code systems, the significant degradation in BER performance occurs when losing the color stream which transmits the information bits.
In the system using the regular LDPC code, the performance degradation does not depend on the lost color when losing any one of the color streams.
