BER Prediction of Convolutional Coded OFDM Transmission with Application to IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN

(in English) This paper proposes a BER (bit error rate) prediction method for COFDM (coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) for wireless LAN (local area network) environment. In a high SNR (signal to noise power ratio) region, generally, an approximated BER can be derived from the PEP (pairwise error probability).
The conventional PEP analysis assumes the random error. However, in wireless LAN environment, the perfect randomness on error occurrence is not guaranteed due to the limitation on the signal bandwidth and short delay spread. Therefore, this paper derives an approximated BER applicable to a case of non-perfect random error. Our prediction method shows good agreement with the BER performance obtained by the computational simulation.
