Study on Direction of Arrival Estimation of Harmonics Re-radiation for a Harmonics-Based Retrodirective System

(in English) A Haramonics-Based Retorodirective System (HBRS) is proposed for microwave power transmission. Re-radiation of rectenna harmonics is adopted for the pilot signal in the HBRS. In this paper, we constructed a estimating system of harmonics arrival direction from a rectenna with a λ/2 dipole antenna and a double voltage rectifier. We evaluated a phase detector we adopted, and the detector had a linear relationship between the output voltage and the phase difference of input signal. We conducted experiments of estimating direction of arrival. At first, we simulate the re-radiation harmonics by a signal generator and a horn antenna. In the estimated results, the maximum error was 〖3.2〗^∘. Next, we transmitted microwave power to the rectenna, and estimated the direction of harmonic arrival. As a result, the harmonics from the transmitting antenna flowed in the estimating system and the error was expanded. We set radiowave absorber and blocked the harmonics from the transmitting antenna. In the re-experimental results, the difference with the simulated harmonics experiments was reduced by 2^∘. As a design guideline of the HBRS, we showed that it is necessary to consider the effects of the harmonics from transmitting antenna.
