Failure Mode Identification by Morphological Analysis in the Software FMEA/HAZOP Process

(in English) A software FMEA/HAZOP process, which an author have proposed, applies HAZOP guide words to properties of object, event, and relation words in system requirements, external or internal designs, or operation processes described in the natural language; lets analysts imagine situations that the system under consideration shows anormal behaviors --- failure modes; assesses effects and severities of the failure modes; and studies coutnermeasures to them. This paper proposes another scheme to identify failure modes that performs morphological analysis; modifies words directly by modifier words in the dictionary instead by HAZOP guide words. The scheme can be implemented easy with existing morphological analysis tools; however, it can generate a number of non-sense failure modes if we apply modifier words na"ively in the dictionary. Use of co-occurrence dictionary and introduction of syntactic/semantic analyses are essential to avoid the problem.
