Load Balancing based on Model Predictive Control for Edge Computing

(in English) Edge computing has recently been attracting a lot of attention as a technology for reducing network traffic and service latency by executing service applications nearby users/devices. In the edge computing, it is
important to connect users/devices to appropriate servers and to rapidly execute the required services according to the movement of users/devices and changes of server load situations. Therefore, in order to realize an efficient control mechanism for distributing service requests according to the changes of edge situations, we apply Model Predictive Control (MPC), which can optimize the tracking performance for system changes, to a redirection mechanism and propose a novel method for edge load balancing based on coordinated operation between multiple servers. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method by simulations.
