[Poster Presentation] An evaluation of voice intelligibility in factory noise environment based on active noise control and auditory masking

(in English) In factories, factory workers exposed to loud and continual noises feel strong discomfort. We have previously proposed an integration method for active noise control (ANC) and auditory masking for noise reduction. ANC reduces the sound pressure level of the noise in a lower-frequency band, and auditory masking reduces discomfort caused by the spectral peaks in a higher-frequency band. In this paper, we evaluated the voice intelligibility of the noise-reduced speech obtained by applying the proposed method to noisy speech, and we investigated the relationship between voice intelligibility and the proposed method under the condition that the controlling frequency-bands are changed.
