(in English) The fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication system has attracted much attention to provide various kinds of mobile services and applications for 2020 and later. 28 GHz band is one of the most potent radio bands for 5G since super wide bandwidth over a few hundred MHz will be available in the band. Applying the frequency band to the mobile communication has a problem due to the high straightness of radio waves and a large propagation loss. To compensate large propagation loss in higher frequency, the beamforming based on Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is one of the most promising techniques and can be combined with spatial multiplexing of multiple data streams to achieve much higher capacity. We succeeded in 28 GHz-band Massive MIMO transmission experiment in Suwon City, Korea with the cooperation of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. In this paper, we show some results of the outdoor experiment of Massive MIMO transmission for 5G in urban area in order to confirm the possibility of data communication of the 5G system in a variety of surrounding environment.
