Network Selection Scheme Using Positioning Information for Heterogeneous Wireless System: Proposal of Traffic Relay

(in English) Heterogeneous wireless systems such as a combination of mobile broadband wireless access (MBWA) and wireless local area network (WLAN) are candidates to attain the large capacity in next generation mobile communication systems.
For capacity expansion, small cell network is necessary.
Since small cell networks have only 10 to 100 meter order coverage, their resources are used by only a small part of traffic.
In the prior study, we have proposed the traffic navigation using route estimation and route direction to gather traffic into small cell network.
In this paper, we propose the traffic relay using route estimation and route direction of traffic navigation.
In the proposed scheme, user's traffic can be transmitted to other user by relay in order to gather the traffic into small cell network.
Each user terminal estimates the routes which user will pass through and the route with the highest estimated throughput will be recommended as the passing route.
When two terminals meet with each other, one terminal will pass its traffic to another to make sure the traffic can be gathered into small cell network successfully.
Using the traffic relay, the system-wide load balancing can be realized.
The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme can reduce data packet transmission timing of user by 16.4% in the case of 80% of cumulative distribution function (CDF).
It can improve the average system throughput 3.9 times more than that of traffic navigation.
