Tokyo Gas is conducting technology development on smart meters, the installation of which will commence in 2018.
Gas Smart Meter system is constituted by three elements of "Gas meter ", " Multihop wireless networks", " Wide area network" . Components of Gas Smart Mmeter system are required 10 years battery life, because they can’t use an external power source unlike the power smart meters. In order to introduce smart meters to an area where buildings are densely populated like in the Tokyo metropolitan area, WiSUN technology capable of multi-hop relay with low power consumption is indispensable. Tokyo Gas expects to demonstrate and deploy smart metering system to enhance safety and energy saving potential in the world wide market. |
