| (in English) | This lecture reviews historical trends on standardization in the Information and Communication Area, and reconfirms that the main drivers of the standardization have shifted from international organizations to industrial fora and consortia, then, explains how companies, who are active in the area, have acquired Intellectual Property, mainly patents strategically, and conflicted with each other under the situation of technology convergence, as well as corresponding actions by government authority in various regions. This technology convergence is considered to continue in the future, which would provide enormous enlargement of the market for ICT companies, but, would make it unclear for the companies how to approach the market. Therefore, the companies must be more active in engaging in voluntary standardization as the broadest mean. | |
