Improvement of the time synchronization precision in the multipath satellite signal reception environment by an algorithm for statistical satellite signals selection applied in the GPS receiver

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) When the time synchronization to GPS satellite signals is conducted in the satellite signal reception environment in urban areas where the antenna is surrounded with structures, degradation of the time synchronization precision due to reduction of the number of visible satellites with limited open air spaces and the reception of multipath signals which are formed by reflection and diffraction of satellite signals is a crucial problem. We contrived a satellite signal selection algorithm based on statistical processing to effectively remove invisible (NLOS) satellite signals which influence precision degradation in GPS receivers. The measurement evaluation result of the improvement effect of the time synchronization precision in the model reception environments of multipath signals with a GPS receiver with the contrived algorithm applied is reported.
