High-resolution measurement of differential mode delay of few-mode fiber using phase-comparing FMCW

(in English) Differential mode delay (DMD) is an important parameter to characterize mode division multiplexing transmission lines, and high-resolution DMD measurements are required for low-DMD lines. In the recent studies, the DMD has been measured with a high resolution by using a frequency-swept continuous wave (FMCW) interferometry. However, the FMCW method requires a wide band to sweep the optical frequency, resulting in the difficulty in the characterization of the transmission lines where the DMDs largely depend on the optical wavelength. In this paper, we propose a new method to measure the DMD with a high resolution and narrow band. We also describe the influence of mode coupling in the proposed method and demonstrate a mitigation of the influence.
