Effective Indices of Elliptical Core Optical Fibers Suitable for Mode Division Multiplexed Communication

(in English) Inter-modal crosstalk in the few-mode optical fiber is reduced by increasing an effective index difference between the fiber modes. While a conventional optical fiber has a circular shaped core and effective indices of its high order modes are degenerated. In this paper we investigate the effective indices of fiber modes of an elliptical core optical fiber to find suitable core shape to maximize effective index differences among first three fiber modes.
