Autonomic Nervous Activity Estimation for Daily Life using Estimated Respiratory Feature Derived from Heart Rate Variability features

(in English) Heart Rate Variability (HRV) features are majorly used for indirect measurement of autonomic nervous activity. However, they might not appropriately reflect autonomic nervous activity without respiration control such as daily life. Since respiratory features also reflect autonomic nervous activity, this paper proposes feature value estimation from HRV to respiration, and status estimation using those estimated features in order to enable accurate estimation of autonomic nervous activity without respiration control. As an initial investigation, this paper clarifies the relationship between HRV features and respiratory features without respiration control under the mental arithmetic task, which activates sympathetic nervous system. The experimental results show that the proposed method has potential to appropriately estimate respiratory features from HRV features. Moreover, estimated respiratory feature is useful for status estimation between the rest and the mental arithmetic task.
