Optimization of Fresnel hologram computation on GPU using decomposition method

(in English) Computer generated hologram (CGH) is a hopeful technology for realizing 3D displays. CGH has an advantage that it does not require special glasses. However, CGH has a problem that generating CGH takes very longtime. GPU is expected to solve this problem as it has many cores and it can do highly parallel computation. However, GPU’s memory capacity is limited. Object decomposition method has been proposed to mitigate the limitation of GPU memory. However, generating CGH on GPU still takes long time. To solve this problem, we introduce three optimization methods into our Fresnel hologram generation program based on the object decomposition method. The optimization methods improve the performance up to 2.27 times.
