Application Development for Location-based Communication with Peer-to-peer Network

Recently, with a spread of mobile terminals equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) such as smart phones and tablets, users have been able to easily acquire the current position and specific position information. High speed communication of mobile phones has also been achieved by LTE (Long term evolution). Based on these backgrounds, a communication protocol for constructing location-based P2P networks with GPS and LTE has been proposed. However, there is a possibility that P2P communication cannot be performed between the terminals since the proposed protocol does not fully consider the terminal mobility. For this reason, the authors suspect that it is hard to achieve a location-based service using the P2P network. Therefore, we aim to develop an application as a communication tool based on location-based P2P network. The developed application displays the positons of surrounding users on the map, and the user can select one or more communication partners. In this presentation, the main functions of the developed application will be explained. |
