FunCushion: A Functional Cushion Interface that can detect user's push and display iconic patterns

(in English) We use some soft furnitures such as cushions and sofas in living rooms. This paper proposes a method for utilizing soft furnitures as ambient displays by integrating light emitting function without compromising their softness. In particular, ultraviolet light and fluorescent material are introduced. This is because existing push detection technology for soft furnitures uses infrared light sources. FunCushion is a functional cushion interface that display iconic patterns by ultraviolet light and detect user's push by infrared light. The authors evaluate the quality of displaying and the accuracy of the push detection and show some applications.
