Accurate Measurement of Transfer Efficiency of Air-Core Transcutaneous Energy Transmission Transformers for Ventricular Assist Devices -- Comparison between Theoretical Estimates and Measured Values Using Various Measurement Devices --

(in English) Transcutaneous energy transmission systems use inductive coupling techniques to transfer energy to ventricular assist devices between flat coil windings on the inside and outside surfaces of the body. There are few studies on measurements of AC-to-AC energy transmission efficiency in the field of adequate suppression of common-mode current with subsequent comparison of measured values against the corresponding theoretical estimates. In this study, we measured AC-to-AC energy transmission efficiency using two oscilloscopes with common-mode filters, uninterruptible power supply, and two differential probes to suppress common-mode current. To investigate the suppression effect of the common-mode current, the AC-to-AC energy transmission efficiency was also measured via a commercial power analyzer and network analyzer. In addition, the accurate theoretical estimate of AC-to-AC energy transmission efficiency was calculated to compare to the measured efficiencies of the corresponding devices.
