Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A wavelength splitter is proposed on the basis of slit-type band-pass filters consisting of three-dimensional (3D) plasmonic waveguides. We first investigate the transmission spectra of the 3D slit-type band-pass filter. It is pointed out that a sufficient band-pass property cannot be obtained, due to an undesirable high transmissivity occuring in the longer wavelength region. To enhance the peak transmissivity, we insert dielectric materials into the slit section. In addition, a waveguide with a metal thickness of 0.2 μm is chosen to reduce the undesirable transmission in the longer wavelength region, leading to a narrower bandwidth. We next adjust the slit length of the filter to achieve a high transmissivity at 1.31 and 1.55 μm. Then, the splitter is designed with the two filters placed in parallel, and the transmission spectra are evaluated from the two output ports. Numerical results show that a separation of 18.9 dB between the two ports is achieved at 1.31 μm, while the separation is reduced to 9.8 dB at 1.55 μm. Finally, to improve the separation at 1.55 μm, we introduce a stub section working as an attenuation pole into the splitter. It is found that the separation is successfully improved from 9.8 to 32.7 dB at 1.55 μm.
