Improvement of hierarchical multi Atlas method for the muscle area automatic extraction from the CT images of the entire lower extremity

(in English) In this paper, we modified the hierarchical multi-atlas method toward automated muscle segmentation from the CT images of the entire lower extremity.
By setting the ROI of the peripheral body region for each bone region and applying the hierarchical multiatlas method for each ROI, it corresponded to posture variations of multiple joints of the crotch, knee and foot.
The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by using the whole lower limb CT image of 5 cases.
By using the proposed method, the degree of coincidence in DICE improved from 0.885 to 0.913.
