Resonant Characteristics of Surface Plasmon in Capacitive Metal Meshes in a Millimeter Wave Region

(in English) Abstract We are developing a new type of terahertz measurement method for dielectric materials by using a surface plasmon resonance effect happened in capacitive metal meshes. Capacitive meshes have been fabricated on quartz substrates with different thicknesses, and their resonant frequencies have been measured at millimeter wave frequencies in the W-band. The measured resonant frequencies have changed from 80.6GHz to 94.9GHz by adjusting the thickness of the quartz substrate from 1.25mm to 0.31mm. The experimental results have shown that the effective relative permittivity of the quartz substrate can be adjusted by changing its thickness.
