Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To investigate suitable area patterns that filled the bars of tactile bar charts created in microcapsule paper are suitable, we conducted a tactile exploration experiment with blind persons as participants. In the experiment, we have prepared twelve area patterns filling the bars; eight dot patterns with various dot sizes and dot intervals and four colors (black, dark gray, light gray, and white). We asked the participants to count the number of bars in the graph (task1) and to count the number bars which extended over a designated grid line (task 2). The results show that correct answer rate and subjective evaluation were the highest and exploration time was the shortest in filled deep colors and filled in dots patterns at narrow intervals. For the reason, it is suitable to fill the bars of tactile bar charts created in microcapsule paper in black and dots with a diameter of 1.0 mm at 2.0 mm intervals.
