Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We proposed a Kinect cane system which helps visually impaired individuals recognize chairs, desks, staircases, elevators, and handrails. In this study, we conduct experiments to recognize upward and downward staircases by use of a Xtion PRO LIVE cane system that is lighter in weight and does not need commercial power supply. Several recognition results are shown.
