(in English) A laser μ-platform based on an 1.3-μm DFB laser is demonstrated as a practical light source for a silicon photonics (SiP) platform. A lens-integrated surface-emitting laser (LISEL) is utilized for the laser -platform. A low coupling loss to SiP platform with a grating coupler (GC) was achieved by means of optimized design of both mode-filed size and emission angle of the light emitted from the LISEL. In this paper, the fundamental design of the laser μ-platform and its measured characteristics such as optical coupling, lasing, and modulation are presented.
