Horizontally polarized omnidirectional antenna using cylindrical orthogonal polarization conversion filter

(in English) FSS (Frequency Selective Surface) is configured by metal elements arranged periodically in the small distance, and has a spatial filter characteristics that reflect or transmit electromagnetic wave at a specific frequency. At this time, by designing the FSS so that the phase of the transmitted wave has a desired value, it is possible to realize a spatial filter has the orthogonal polarization conversion function. This paper proposes the horizontally polarized omni-directional antenna using cylindrical spatial filter with orthogonal polarization conversion function, and clarifies its characteristics. As a result of examination, it is clarified that the proposed antenna has the horizontal polarized omni-directional pattern with cross polarization discrimination 21dB.
