When designing a power electronic converter, the Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) filter is often positioned close to the EMI source to downsize the converter by the high density packaging. Therefore, EMI filter should be designed considering the shielding against the external near field coupling. In this paper, we modeled EMI filter using Finite Element method (FEM) and compared the measured and simulated electromagnetic coupling to verify the model. Consequently, the simulated coupling agreed with the measurement well. We clarified the mechanism of the electromagnetic coupling and found that the shielding half of the EMI filter can reduce the coupling as well as the shielding the entire EMI filter. |
