Low Complexity Compressed Sensing Based Channel Estimation with Measurement Matrix Optimization for OFDM System

(in English) Compressed sensing (CS) implementation for channel estimation is offering less pilot resource requirement with a better performance compared to that of the conventional interpolation methods. However, reducing the number of the pilots in a wireless system will deteriorate the system performance by aliasing phenomenon where some repetitive channel samples will be generated to reduce the correctness of CS algorithms. The aliasing effect will result to the wrong sparse locations estimation for the compressed sensing computation. In this paper, we will propose a measurement matrix optimization technique to reduce the aliasing effect on the CS based channel estimation for OFDM system. Using this technique, we can avoid the aliasing effect, and achieve low-complexity computation. Moreover, this technique can be directly implemented in the current OFDM based system without changing the design structure. The simulation results show that by only use 12.5% of pilots will not give a significant reduction in the BER performance.
