Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) There is a desire for public safety networks to meet the increasing demands for sharing images or videos among first responders and incident commanders more effectively. Long term evolution (LTE) is considered to be a candidate for achieving such broadband services. Capital expenditures in deploying base stations need to be decreased to introduce LTE for public safety. However, out-of-coverage areas tend to happen at the cell edge areas or inside buildings because the cell area of each base station for public safety networks is large. This paper shows evaluation results on wider cell radius and on the effects of building size of the proposed relay selection scheme for the device-to-device (D2D) relay.
