The agricultural production in Japan has decreased due to various factors such as many elderly farmers and a few younger farmers.
IT agriculture has attracted attention to solve these issues in agriculture because the information technology can support farmers by collecting information about agricultural work and providing valuable information.
This paper focuses on the field sensing system to manage a field environment even if the IT agriculture assumes a lot of services.
Field sensing systems can obtain various information regarding the growth of crops by providing devices with multiple sensors in a field.
Some vendors sell a field sensing system, and they confirmed that the system is useful to increase agricultural production.
Since suitable devices depend on a field environment and crops because there are many factors to select devices.
Therefore, vertically integrated systems are not enough to realize a flexible sensing system.
This paper proposes a fundamental design to realize a flexible field sensing system.
The proposed system defines two functions: sensing systems and a management cloud.
Some vendors can provide a sensing systems, and the management cloud can manage these sensing systems flexibly.
As a result, vendors can concentrate to produce own special sensing systems and farmers can select a suitable sensing system according to their field condition. |
