This paper focuses on an image-sensor-based visible light communication system using LED (transmitter) and an image sensor (receiver). In this system, the communication capability depends on the quality of images that LED transmitter is captured by the sensor. Generally, captured images blur because of defocusing. Due to the degradation of the image quality by this factor, the receiver suffers from the inability to detect correct LED luminance values and demodulation of data. To overcome this problem, our previous study proposed a signal demodulation method based on pseudo-captured images, which are imitations of blinking patterns of the LED transmitter, and confirmed that this method's resistance to the blurring of image is high. However, this method requires high computational cost by increasing the number of LEDs. This paper proposes a novel computational cost reduction method using a differential evolution, which is one of swarm intelligence techniques, for the signal demodulation method and evaluates its performance. |
