[Poster Presentation] Development of Sensor System to Observe Rainfall and Sand-and-Stone Avalanche using 420MHz LoRa

(in English) In mountainous country like Japan, sand-and-stone avalanches caused by torrential or prolonged rainfall often result in a heavy damage to people and residents in surrounding area. A warning system which can collect data from a large area is essential in order to effectively forecast disasters. However, due to high mountains and deep forests, data transmission is limited. In this study, we propose a rainfall monitoring system utilizing 420MHz band. LORA mode of the new 420MHz module can transfer up to 17km line of sight distance experimentally, thus enables a low cost sensor system to observe rainfall and sand-and-stone avalanche.
