Experimental Demonstration of All-Optical FEC Coding Scheme with Convolutional Code Consisting of HNLF-based XOR Gates and Wavelength Converters

(in English) In this paper, we experimentally demonstrated an all-optical FEC coding scheme with convolutional code for the realization of dynamic noise compensation, which is the method of switching with and without FEC coding in response to the SNR in optical nodes.
The proposed scheme was comprised of optical XOR gates and wavelength converters, which are based on FWM in HNLFs.
The optical FEC coding scheme theoretically offered 3.5 dB net coding gains in the conditions of BER=10^{-9} for 2^{23}-1 PRBS DPSK-modulated RZ format signals at 10 Gbps.
