[Invited Talk] Research and Development of Digital Radio Frequency Technology

(in English) We propose the digital RF front end to consist of 1-bit digital RF transmitter and direct RF undersampling receiver. This architecture can reduce the size of transmitter and receiver because it does not require the local oscillator and the frequency conversion mixer. Therefore this RF front end is free from the interference among the mixers, locals and phase locked loops and this can enhance the miniaturization for 5G Massive Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output(MIMO), having large number of transmitters and receivers. In this paper, the 1-bit digital RF transmitter based on 1-bit bandpass delta sigma modulator, the direct RF undersampling S/H CMOS IC and technological trend are also introduced.
