Synthetic Depth-of-Field Projector by Shape Adaptive Focal Sweep Projection

(in English) In this paper, we propose a synthetic depth-of-field projector to eliminate defocus blur occurred by projecting on a three-dimensional object.
Depth-of-field is synthesized by modulating the focus length of a projector at a frequency which is higher than the critical flicker fusion(CFF) frequency and by projecting just on in-focus area with high-speed projector and focus tunable lens.
However, when the image is projected during strictly in-focus, projection efficiency is reduced, and then the projected image becomes darker.
Therefore, we modulate the projection image and the focus control corresponding to the shape of the projection object. In our experiment, we synthesized depth-of-field by shape adaptive projection and evaluated quality and luminance of the projected image.
