In recent years, biometrics is developed as a means of person authentication. However, especially in user management of a system, even if a genuine user is switched to others after his/her authentication, conventional biometrics cannot prevent such spoofing. In order to prevent the spoofing, continuous authentication is needed. We are trying to use brain waves (EEGs) for continuous authentication. Since the brain wave is spontaneously generated from the brain, it is possible to transparently provide biological information. Furthermore, EEG becomes detectable by attaching electrodes to the scalp; therefore, it has higher security than conventional biometrics. In addition, the brain wave as biometrics has the highest acceptability since everyone has the brain wave. We had evaluated brain waves which were spontaneously generated but their authentication performance was not so high. In this study, we use evoked potentials by auditory stimulation instead of using spontaneous brain waves in order to improve authentication performance. However, only presenting audible auditory stimulation disturbs for users to use a system. Therefore, we propose to use inaudible auditory stimulation. In this paper, characteristics of evoked potentials by inaudible auditory stimulation are investigated. As a result, it is confirmed that the spectrum in α band is increased in electrodes which are attached in the back of the head. |
