A Proposal on Routing-Based Distributed Mobility Management for 5G

(in English) In the 5G era, mobile data traffic grows rapidly and centralized mobility management raises an issue of traffic concentration to a mobility anchor. Distributed mobility management is expected to be a solution for the issue, which moves mobility anchor functions to multiple edge routers. However, it incurs path stretch and redundant traffic at backhaul links. In this paper, we design a routing-based mobility management mechanism to address the above problems. The mechanism integrates distributed routing with Bloom Filters and anchor-less scheme where edge routers work as mobility anchors. By simulations, we show the proposed mechanism achieves reduction of path stretch and redundant traffic at the cost of slight increase of routing overheads.
