Study of Ad-hoc Mobile Network Architecture using Unlicensed Bands

(in English) Several technologies using unlicensed bands for LTE systems are proposed to improve deficiency of wireless capacity due to the limitation of licensed bands. Stand-alone unlicensed LTE is also proposed as a technology that provides LTE services with only unlicensed band. Stand-alone unlicensed LTE can be used by operators which are not allocated licensed bands, however the cost of mobile core network is an issue for the operators. In this paper, we propose a distributed P-GW architecture for the stand-alone unlicensed LTE system that provides mobile services as an ad-hoc overlay network. Additionally, we evaluate the effectiveness of our proposal in terms of network load, handover latency, and user data plane latency. We reveal that the proposed architecture has an advantage in terms of network loads and end-to-end latency and has an issue with handover latency.
