3D Visualization of Streaming Graphs using Neo4j Graph Database

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Neo4j is a graph database in which data are stored in the form of nodes and edges. Neo4j provides Cypher Query Language that allows users to retrieve subgraph that match conditions specified by the query. The sequence of the edges in the subgraph can be sorted in the order specified by ORDER BY clause of the syntax. We developed a system, CypherVis3D, that visualizes the evolution of the network by flexibly adding the sequence of edges and nodes to the graph as specified by the query. We report the experiments of applying this system to the panama papers and visualized the evolution of offshore companies’ network. This system is applicable to various types of applications without modifying the program by considering how to specify the query.
