Downlink MU-MIMO using Terminal-Decided Receive Antenna Selection

(in English) Massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission using a large scale of antennas at base station (BS) has been investigated to realize of high frequency utilization. To be applied the massive MIMO transmission to practical systems, there are some reduction problems such as computing load, cost, and so on because many units of radio frequency and signal processing corresponding to the number of BS antenna should be set up at BS. Therefore, we have focus on the increase of the number of user antenna and proposed the downlink multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) transmission with receive antenna selection to obtain the receive diversity. In this paper, for upgrading its transmission, we propose a terminal-decided receive antenna selection method which reduces an amount of channel state information (CSI) feedback and computing load for the antenna selection at BS. In detail, at the each user, spatial correlation between receive antennas is calculated from estimated CSI, and then CSI corresponding to an antenna with large norm is just feed to BS when its spatial correlation value is higher than the threshold. In order to clarify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we present that the proposal achieves about 78 % reductions of amounts of CSI feedback and computing load by evaluation results using measured CSI in an indoor environment.
