Media effects on transactional negotiation -- A preliminary study by questionnaire survey --
Takashi Yamanaka, Maiya Kiyoshi (Kobe Univ.) HCS2016-41
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) What media is appropriate to transactional negotiation? What relationship is there among the trust to the counterpart, the expectancy of deal, and the disclosure to the counterpart in transactional negotiation? As a preliminary study of the study on media effects in transactional negotiation, 105 students (48 males and 57 females) were asked to answer these questions in the questionnaire. The results indicated that face-to-face is more appropriate than TV-conference, telephone and chat, and that there is positive correlation for each pair among the three variables. These findings may suggest that "media richness" theory and previous negotiation theories such as Harvard-style negotiation can be applied to transactional negotiation.
