A Proposal of Multiple SGW Architecture for Mobile Network

(in English) R&D and standardization of the 5th generation mobile network are actively proceeded these years. One of the most important requirements of the 5G is low-latency communication and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is considered as a key technology to realize it. Although MEC is suitable in delivering low-latency services, its application on the current mobile network cannot provide at the same time connection to non MEC services and service continuity. This is due to the fact that MEC dedicated and non MEC dedicated traffics have to share the same SGW (Serving Gateway). As a result optimal allocation of the SGW for MEC services is difficult. Thus, we propose an architecture where a single UE (User Equipment) connect to multiple SGWs. Simulation results show the effectiveness of our proposal.
