Performance Analysis of Channel Shortening without Channel Estimation

(in English) This article considers the performance of a blind channel shortening method for inter-block interference (IBI) suppression in OFDM systems. In the shortening method, a receiver has two OFDM demodulators each with a time-domain equalizer (TEQ) and a frequency-domain equalizer (FEQ), in which TEQs are determined such that the outputs of an FEQ are identical to those of another FEQ. It is shown that the method can suppress IBI completely and avoid channel estimation, which is required by conventional methods. Simulation results are presented to show that the method is superior to other conventional methods, and clarify the impact of some parameters on its performance.
